BI 6303 Essentials of Business Intelligence

This course is an introduction to Business Intelligence (BI) for decision making. BI refers to technologies, applications, and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information to support better business decision making. This course provides an overview of the technologies and tools of BI, and the application of BI to an organization’s strategies and goals. 

 

BI 6305 Applied Data Management and Visualization 

This course covers the use and application of state-of-the-art data management and data visualization tools to improve insights, speed, and quality for business decision making. Students will learn data management and data visualization concepts and skills in identifying, selecting and managing appropriate data, evaluating data quality, transforming raw data into meaningful graphics and visualizations, and interpreting data to support business decisions.

 

BI 6313 Business Intelligence Modeling for Decision Support

This course equips students with a systematic approach to develop business intelligence models for informed decisions for various business domains. Students will learn advanced toolset, construct and evaluate optimization models, and apply fundamental toolkit for conducting simulations in diverse business contexts. It provides students with practical experiences in generating defensible recommendations based on intelligent models tailored to a broad range of business scenarios. 

 

BI 6323 Data and Opinion Mining for Business Applications 

This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of data mining and opinion mining techniques for business applications. It provides students with a solid foundation of data management aspects of business intelligence that is reinforced with hands-on practices. Topics include data preprocessing, data warehousing, data mining processes, opinion mining processes, sentiment analysis, web/social media analytics, and data/opinion mining and business strategies. 

 

BI 6329 Business Intelligence Strategy and Performance

This course discusses the knowledge and skills in business intelligence strategy, business performance reporting and visualization, and enterprise performance management. Students will learn critical concepts and process of developing business intelligence strategy and roadmap, align organizational data and intelligence assets, distribute resources, track progress, and measure success towards overall organizational goals.
